Weathering Steel, best known under the trademark Core-Ten® steel or ASTM A606-4, is a group of steel alloys which were developed to eliminate the need for painting and form a stable rusted surface when exposed to the weather.

Bonderized steel starts as galvanized steel, which is coated with molten zinc to prevent rust. It’s then further processed by a “Bonderizing” treatment—a phosphate bath followed by a chromate conversion coating.

Oil canning is defined as the waviness of a metal panel and is an inherent characteristic of light-gauge, cold-rolled flat metal products. In other words, it’s a visual phenomenon that makes metal panels look wavy or somewhat distorted, especially in the broad, flat areas of a metal roof or wall system.

Steel debris or particles, when allowed to remain on a building following its construction, will rust causing an unsightly stain that can be difficult to remove. To the untrained eye, steel debris looks like premature corrosion.
